GELATOn the ROAD - il primo cammino d'europa dedicato ad un alimento: il gelato artigianale

The GELATOn the ROAD project aims to create the first European Road of Gelato (Erog), focusing on energy and environmental sustainability, product and raw material quality, innovation in the artisan gelato supply chain system, and the culture and enhancement of the territory. Gelato, a beloved product enjoyed by people of all ages, serves as an ideal vehicle for conveying essential concepts such as production and product sustainability, quality and territory, the culture of good food, tradition, and innovation.

By implementing a defined set of activities, the project engages stakeholders in the production chain, including material and machine manufacturing companies, gelato makers, and product innovators. It also aims to inform and involve adult and young customers through the gelato road, which spans across 12 European countries.

Goals:

The GELATOn the ROAD project encompasses several key objectives. Firstly, it seeks to create new tourist attractions by establishing a dynamic circuit that continually evolves and includes new realities and territories. These territories will benefit from several initiatives such as itinerant museums, cooking shows, events and trainings for tourist cultural operators.

Another goal is to promote innovation and creativity in gelato flavors, with a particular focus on using local and traditional “0 kilometer” products. This approach allows for the revitalization of these ingredients within the gelato-making process, providing new opportunities for showcasing regional specialties.

Furthermore, the project aims to contribute to the economic and cultural development of the participating regions. By involving these areas in various initiatives, the project will enhance their attractiveness.

An important aspect of the project is to raise awareness and promote environmental and energy sustainability among producers, gelato makers, and customers. This is achieved through the adoption of technologies that optimize and reduce energy consumption in production machinery and products.

Overall, the GELATOn the ROAD project offers a unique opportunity to use a popular and enjoyable product like gelato to bring about tangible changes in the short, medium, and long term. By establishing an economically sustainable path that each partner country can adopt and promote, the project has the potential to expand its impact and influence across Europe. It combines the pleasures of gelato with a commitment to sustainability, culture, and economic development, paving the way for a brighter future for both the gelato industry and the territories it crosses.
